A decade after “Zombieland” made its way to the undead hearts of fans, the entire original cast had signed up for the second film. According to the Hollywood Reporter, Sony Pictures has given the green light to begin production on the sequel to the zombie classic.
Along with the original cast, Thomas Middleditch will be joining the cast of Zombieland. According to Variety magazine, the “Silicon Valley” actor will join Zoey Deutch and Rosario as newbies in the film.
According to Variety Magazine, “Zombieland 2” will take place in a world after a zombie apocalypse where zombie slayers must fight an evolved form of zombies as well as some human survivors.
The original director is also going direct the sequel, Ruben Fleischer, who recently directed the anti hero movie “Venom” will return to the land of the undead.
Production for Zombieland 2 began in January according to the Hollywood Reporter it is scheduled to be released on Oct. 10, which would be the anniversary of the release of the original film.
Zombieland was a surprise success, though it was only a moderate domestic success of $75 million, internationally the film made $102.3 million. The film became an instant classic for zombie lovers and movie fans. It is a comedic horror film, which follows a cast of unlikely heroes. The original cast consisted of Emma Stone, Abigail Breslin, Jesse Eisenberg and Woody Harrelson.
