Students in the Sickles High School chapter of the National Honor Society are planning a zombie 5k to help raise money for the fight against cancer.
The run, scheduled for March 30, will be the first of its kind at the school, which is located in Tampa, Fla.
The run will take place completely on the Sickles High School campus with all proceeds going to the American Cancer Society by way of the Sickles Relay for Life teams.
The Sickles Zombie 5K will weave through the campus filled with zombie students. Runners will enter “Zombie Zones” and evade zombies as they try to “infect” them by taking their race flags. Participants “survive” the race by keeping at least one of your flags.
Race registration is $25 through Eventbrite for the first 100 registrations and $35 there after. Runners can register in person at Sickles High School for $25 up to race day. Race day registration is limited.
Race Day
Race Registration begins at 7 a.m. Runners may park in the student lot or the faculty lot. However, cars parked in the student lot will not be accessible during the race until ten minutes after the last race wave has started. This will be at approximately 9 a.m. The faculty lot, however will be open during the entire race.
Anyone who feels they cannot finish the race should contact a staff member posted throughout the course and they will safely bring them to the finisher village.

The Course
Although the course may have Zombies to surprise runners at any point along the way, only on soft surfaces (in clearly marked “Zombie Zones”) will they be able to take flags.
Registration and the race start will begin on the bus ramp located in the North East corner of the campus. Water will be available near the 1 mile and 2 mile markers. The course is completely contained within the Sickles High School campus and at no time will runners be on any public roads. Race officials will be on the course to direct runners.
The race will end in the front visitor lot where racers will receive their finisher shirts. Different shirts will be awarded for those who “Survive” or those who don’t. Afterwards, join our sponsors and relax in our finisher village with music and company.
