Today’s zombie comes from the sort-of sequel to Night of the Living Dead called Return of the Living Dead. Based on a novel by John Russo (the former partner of George Romero),  Dan O’Bannon’s film featured numerous iconic zombies, including half-corpse.

Half-corpse was the animatronic creation of Tony Gardner and required three puppeteers to function. A talking zombie, half-corpse explains why zombies need to eat people: brains make the pain of being dead go away.
