The zombie film genre has long been an international affair from
Lucio Fulci’s 1979 classic Zombi 2 to more recent efforts like Train To Busan by Yeon Sang-ho.
Now, the Malaysian movie industry is taking on the zombie genre with new film, Belaban Hidup: Infeksi Zombie. According MalayMail, the production and filming is being conducted completely in the Malaysian states of Perak and Serawak.
The film is directed and produced by Ray Lee, who has dreamt of making a zombie film according to MalayMail.
The plot of Belaban Hidup: Infeksi Zombie, follows a rogue scientist whose experiments have gone wrong turning the local population into zombies.
The script was created through a collaboration between Lee and screenwriter Misha Minut and the film be in the languages common to Malaysia, Malay and Iban. For international audiences, it will have subtitles in English.
The project is expected to be released in November of this year.
