Following the release of a teaser for the upcoming season, the release date for the next season of “Z Nation” has been announced. With this new date comes a new form of zombie, the “talker”.

While it’s still unclear as to the extent of the intelligence of this new form of zombie, it appears that they will have limited speech and a sense of danger as one zombie is seen pulling back from a weapon drawn on it in the teaser.

Season four left viewers with a cliffhanger questioning the lives of both the main characters and the world at large as Zona seeks to reset the world by “gerrymandering on a global scale” according to the new president, however short lived of a term it was.

Not only can fans look forward to the resolution of this cliffhanger, but veteran actor Mario Van Peebles is set to guest star in the upcoming season alongside the cast. While it’s unclear what part, or how big of a part, Van Peebles will play, Twitter has seen photos of him dressed in western garb.

Z Nation will return for its fifth season on Oct. 5 following “Van Helsing” on SYFY.
