f there is one thing that is certain, it is that San Diego Comic Con will bring on an onslaught of trailers. This year was no exception, with trailers for both the ninth season of The Walking Dead and the second half of Fear the Walking Dead’s fourth season being released.
The Walking Dead trailer shows us what has been long suspected: season 9 is going to be a time jump. Rick is looking much older with a grey beard and lot of grey hair. Maggie isn’t pregnant anymore. All the communities seem to be getting along.
But things are far from perfect. Maggie reminds Rick that he agreed to step aside and hasn’t. There are a lot of people who have yet to forgive and forget where the Saviors are concerned. And Negan is still around to get under Rick’s skin.
The trailer for Fear the Walking Dead is a bit harder to parse out. It looks like the survivors have splintered into smaller groups, but are brought back together by a tornado. This would be in line with the artwork of the promo poster released a few weeks ago.
As we noted then, Z Nation did a zombie-tornado way back in its second season. That point aside, it looks like the storm does some major damage and will be a catalyst for the action in the back half of season 4, a season which saw the deaths of lead characters Nick and Madison Clark.
