UFO zombies are making headlines in Moscow. No, this doesn’t have anything to do with last month’s meteor in Russia. Depending on who you talk to, it doesn’t even have anything to do with UFOs or zombies.

The event in question is a zombie-themed disaster response exercise planned for April 27 in the town of Moscow, Idaho. For those unfamiliar with it, Moscow was first settled around 1871 by people who dubbed the area “Hog Heaven.” It picked up the name Moscow in 1877, being named for Moscow, Pennsylvania.

Today the town has a population of about 23,000 and reputation for being a home to a number of artistic endeavors including the Lionel Hampton International Jazz Festival, Festival Dance, Idaho Repertory Theatre, Renaissance Fair, Rendezvous in the Park, Artwalk and the Prichard Art Gallery.

The aforementioned zombie exercise is part of an annual training event held in the area. Moscow Fire Chief Ed Button told the local paper, The Moscow-Pullman Daily News, the theme for this year’s event was chosen because it was actually supposed to be less controversial than previous themes.

Button said in light of recent national events, he wanted to steer clear of former themes like a mass school shooting. Regardless of theme, the exercise remains generally the same: train volunteers firemen and first responders on how to respond to an emergency involving many injuries and casualties.

But that just what they WANT you to think, or so says gubernatorial candidate David Lory VanDerBeek of Nevada. VanDerBeek first spotted a notice about the exercise of the Federal Emergency Management Agency’s website. But then the notice was removed. VanDerBeek has since posted screen shots of the notice as it appeared on the FEMA website.

Because of the notice’s disappearing act, VanDerBeek has come to the conclusion that the exercise is probably part of a program to prepare for the arrival zombies created by a government biological weapon.

“It is quite likely that our government has a created a bio-chemical weapon that can induce zombie-like behaviors in humans and therefore assist in a mass murder event to promote global depopulation without taking the blame,” VanDerBeek wrote on his website. “But because of government/elitist propaganda in the media and Hollywood, millions of people will accept it as a zombie event from aliens rather than a chemical weapon attack by other humans. The UFO piece of the propaganda is to induce the public to accept the depopulation event as a ‘culling’ of the human herd by a ‘higher intelligence’ life form that has been watching earth.”

According to VanDerBeek, the creation of the zombies will create panic and chaos, allowing an elite few to establish a global government.

“In the bigger picture, these events will be used to justify the final surrender of our national sovereignty as the dictators of the earth including Obama claim we must form a global government to combat this alien invasion,” he writes. “Yes, it is insane, but then the elite of this earth are insane people. Surrendering our national sovereignty will conveniently include paying global taxes and forming a global army.”

Sandy Rollins, the contact person listed on the screen capture published by VanDerBeek, said the whole thing was being blown out of proportion.

“This is a local exercise only.  Since most exercises have such somber names as active shooter, it was decided to have a fun name to get more local folks involved.  It includes our fire departments and EMTs to test their training skills, ICS, etc.,” she said. “It was removed from the FEMA web site because I was receiving very nasty and threatening emails regarding the exercise.  On the web site it never said anything about FEMA is planning this,  but several blew it out of the water saying FEMA is planning and we’re using federal dollars.  Like I said above, it’s all local and FEMA and tax dollars are not being used.”

Time will tell if the event is just a harmless training exercise or the first salvo in a battle for world domination. Mark your calendars: April 27 could be the next Dec. 21.
