The anticipated Netflix zombie original set to take place in Korea’s medieval Joseon period finally lands it release date, albeit later than originally planned.
Kingdom is the story of a prince sent on a suicide mission to investigate a mysterious outbreak that is bringing the dead back to life. The trailer features plenty of undead, period costumes and fire lite scenes.
According to Polygon, “The series is set just after the death of a king in Korea’s Joseon period, which lasted from about 1400 to 1900. Shortly after his death a mysterious plague causes the king and a horde of others to rise from their grave bringing a wave of undead-terror to the country. The series will follow the crown prince as he attempts to survive the sudden outbreak.”
Staring Ji-Hoon Ju, Seung-Ryong Ryu and Seong-Kyu Kim, this historical zombie fusion series sets to rival “Rampant”, the upcoming movie also set in Korea’s Joseon period.
The new Netflix series is set to drop on January 25 and feature an eight episode season. While the show hasn’t premiered yet, it has already been green lit for a second season on Netflix.
