Residents of Lake Worth, Fla., looking for information about a power outage, got some shocking information Sunday morning.
A power outage in the early morning hours, triggered an alert which went out at 1:41 a.m. Rather than containing information about the actual outage, however, the alert made references to AMC’s zombie drama The Walking Dead.
According to city officials, the alert system was working properly but was apparently hacked by as-yet unknown idividuals.
“We are looking into the reports that the system mentioned zombies. I want to reiterate that Lake Worth does not have any zombie activity currently and apologize for the system message,” said Ben Kerr, the city’s communication director.
Unlike the apocalypse of The Walking Dead, which has been going on since 2008, the Lake Worth power outage lasted for less than 30 minutes.
