Local television affiliate hacked; zombie warning broadcast

Viewers of Great Falls, Montana affiliate KRTV and its CW station saw an Emergency Alert System broadcast over the top of regular programming Monday. The alert warned that the bodies of the dead were rising from their graves and attacking the living.

The hoax, reminiscent of broadcasts seen in George Romero’s “Night of the Living Dead,” actually did alarm some people. Local police departments fielded at least four calls from residents calling to see if the broadcast was true.

The fact that people believed the report was possible can be seen as a good thing, meaning that awareness of the potential threat of a zombie pandemic is increasing.

That being said, the editorial staff at Zombie Apocalypse Monthly does not condone hacking or abuse of the emergency broadcast system. (Even if it is funny.)
